I'm Back. . . And
I'm Back. . . And ready to to blog. I had a wonderful weekend visiting my family on Long Island, and got to spend plenty of quality time with my niece Brooke. On Saturday morning at about 4:00 a.m., I gave my brother and sister-in-law a rest and took over Brooke's late night feeding. The instructions seemed simple at first: give her the bottle; when she's finished, give her the pacifier; then lay her back in the crib on her belly and she should go back to sleep.
However, I was taking my new responsibilities seriously -- perhaps a bit too seriously. After dropping Brooke back in the crib, I spent about a half-hour checking and re-checking if she was ok. Was I supposed to take out her pacifier after a little bit? Was she still breathing? Dear God, please don't let me screw this up!
Luckily for me, Brooke had done this before, and she was fine. I collapsed on the extra bed that was set up in her nursery, and woke about 3 hours later to the sound of Brooke cooing happily while sitting up in her crib. As I leaned over the bars to play with her, I couldn't help but be transported back about 30 years, when as a kid I hung over the bars of my brother's crib to play with him.
Now, back to cynical sports guy.
