With An Eye Toward Salvaging His Life. . . Al Unser, Jr. has checked himself into rehab for alcoholism. As is often the case with athletes who fall victim to problems with substance abuse, Unser, Jr. was in the midst of one of his best racing seasons in years (not unlike former major league catcher Darrell Porter, who was drowning in Coke and booze off the field while putting up the best offensive numbers of his career).
