A New Life In The American League?
I've read plenty about how New York Mets catcher/first baseman Mike Piazza should probably finish his career in the American League -- the better to take advantage of his offensive prowess. But I think there's another player who ought to consider the switch as well -- and that's Houston Astros left fielder Craig Biggio.
I saw Biggio lead off tonight's game against San Diego with a home run deep to right, and it was only then that I remembered that the Long Island native was 38 years old. Granted, playing left field isn't as brutal as 150+ games behind the plate, but it seems to me that Biggio could play the same sort of role in a lineup that Paul Molitor did late in his career.
