Synchronized Hilarity
Well, if you're going to do something silly like claim that 'synchronized diving' is a sport, then I guess you're going to get what you deserve:
Olympics Games organisers ordered beefed-up security at all venues after an embarrassing breach involving a Canadian man who leapt into the pool during a synchronised diving event.
The order to step up security was launched after the 31-year-old, dressed in a tutu and clown shoes, mounted one of the boards and plunged into the water during the competition Monday evening.
Indeed, an apt metaphor for the Olympic games, but I digress:
He stayed in the pool for several minutes before officials at the Aquatic Centre realised he was not supposed to be there and pulled him out.
Marton Simitsek, CEO of the Athens organising committee, told a press conference that the man "wanted to present a message to his wife by getting on television."
Of course, the guy had the words, goldenpalace.com, tatooed to his chest, so it looks like that statement might be inoperative. Click here for the hilarious photo.
Gotta love that crack Olympic security.

Synchro diving has to be a sport, otherwise Canada is medal-less at the moment.

CBC just left their coverage of the US/Greek basketball game to do their mandatory news coverage. The lead story? The Montreal guy's swan dive into the pool.
According to CBC he's the same guy twho skated out onto the ice in a tutu and goggles at the World Figure Skating Championships in Germany this year. Golden Palace paid him for that stunt but they say he did this one on his own.

I think synchro diving is actually more interesting and more legitimate than solo diving. I can't tell anything about diving other than how they look and splash when they hit the water. In synchro, you have one other thing to check, and you can start to tell some things about the form.
And man, we had some massive wipeouts in that event. That was more violent than Olympic hockey.
