And For My Finnish Readers
I must take a moment to pay tribute to the best goal of the tournament, one that was delivered in the last minute of the second period by Finland's Tuomo Ruutu.
It was then that Ruutu, took a pass from Finnish defenseman Tony Lydman as he was curling toward the right wing boards. Somehow, someway, he turned the corner on Canadian center Brad Richards, following the puck as he caromed it off of the dasher.
Skating up ice, he avoids a check from Simon Gagne, again collecting the bouncing puck as he averts any contact with the Team Canada winger.
It's then that Scott Niedermayer whiffs on a sweep check, as Ruutu steps to the inside, takes one stride, and beats Martin Brodeur with a wrist shot to his glove side, inside the near post.
Unbelievable.
And be sure to check out this diary entry from Ruutu's personal Web site. It came after Finland's defeat of Team USA, and mentions that ex-NHL defenseman Jyrki Lumme, covering the tournament for Finnish television, refered to the Americans as "Team Viagra".

Before the game they asked Miikka Kiprusoff about his Calgary Flames teammate Jarome Ignila, and he said he owned him during practice. Then they asked Ignila, and he said he scored 7 times out of 10 on Kiprusoff.
Nice little bit of trash talking between teammates.
