Good! It's almost become an irritating fad and I can't wait for it to die down a bit.

I love to play and it's fun to play with a few beginners, maybe one will get lucky, no big deal; but sometimes it's downright maddening when you're at a table full of them. You can catch a few fish, not a whole school (if someone hasn't said that already I'll need to write that down in my "poker quotes").

See, I hate that "I can't beat newbies" criticism. Its utter bullshit. Sounds like Helmeuth. The game is about reading the competition and playing accordingly. If newbies are unpredictable, well I guess they have an advantage. Or perhaps, you should adjust to their style, and become unpredictable yourself. Just because they a player doesn't know when to fold, according to you, is a ridiculous indictment. It's called gambling for a reason.

only 254 days, 8 hours, 36 minutes, and 17 seconds until the poker fad is finally done.

did anyone see sportcenter's half-hearted attempt to dispell any link it has with influencing college kids who play poker way too much? they had some kid sitting in the dark claiming he had a problem and the whole bit. the funny thing is, right after the segment, sportcenter was like, in our next segment on gambling, we'll tell you how the odd's makers make their odds. good work boys.

Ninja - there's a difference between playing at a table of 10 with 3 newbies and 9. If you can sit there and play with 9 others, all the more power to you and have fun gambling. Gambling involves a house though and poker's just a game. You're either good or you're not. Everyone will have their bad days, but it's a hell of a lot easier (and generally more fun) for anyone I know that's experienced to go and play in a game with others who know what they're doing. I don't make my living by it, so in the end I just find a different table, but it doesn't mean the annoyance of playing with a table full of people just riding out cards to the river doesn't exist.

I'm inclined to agree with David, even though I've never played for real money and would have to be considered a newbie myself. All I've done is play at Yahoo, where everyone rides out every hand, and you're sure to find a few guys yelling on the message board that it stinks that you can't go all-in.

It's a bit like playing tennis with people who just hit the ball as hard as they can every point, usually a mile or two beyond the baseline. Sure, you'll win, but it's not a lot of fun.
