A Strain On My Relationship With Technorati

I really like Technorati. And I really want to go on liking it. But when I continually get responses like this from the database, our relationship gets a little strained:

Sorry

We couldn't complete your search because we're experiencing a high volume of requests right now. Please try again in a minute or two. We're working hard to make our search results better. Thanks for your patience.

I've been gettting this response for a couple of weeks now, and I'm getting worn out. This never happens with Ice Rocket. Is anybody listening?

I get that message from Technorati all the time, too. I find that IceRocket (or also, blogsearchengine.com) doesn't come up with anywhere near the same number of good results in a search that Technorati does, though. (Plus Technorati has some good extra features, like their advanced blog search.)

If you read Technorati's own blog on their site, they explain how they're in the middle of adding resources to address these problems. I hope this is true.

Not the most important topic of the day, I know, but I felt like putting my two cents in.

I have only tried to use it in the last 2 months, and it has never worked. But the Washington Post trackbacks bloggers who reference their NHL articles.

Try it. Kind of cool.

One other thing-- if you get the "we couldn't complete your search" message from Technorati, I've found that if you click on "search" again right away, it pretty much always works the second time.

Speaking of web site problems-- I haven't been able to get onto hockeyblogs.org or baseballblogs.org for about two solid days now. They just take forever, and never end up loading.

Technorati is listening, but they need to do a lot more than listen: Performance and Scalability Improvement Progress Report
