Was Kayne West Booed In Foxboro?
Saw an item a little bit ago from Drudge that referred to rapper Kayne West getting booed during the pre-game show before last night's NFL season opener between the Pats and the Raiders:
The chart topping hip hop rapper star who used a network hurricane fundraiser to charge "George Bush doesn't care about black people" was loudly and lustily booed during last night's NFL kickoff show.
The appearance of Kanye West, who was beamed into the Boston stadium via remote from Los Angeles, received a strongly negative response from the crowd.
"The boos were thunderous and lasted for much of his number," reports the BOSTON GLOBE.
Developing...
That'll teach me for not Tivo-ing the pre-game show.
Now, I've been reading Drudge long enough to know that he often writes headlines or summaries that are slightly out of context, or missing a critical slice of information in order to get you to click (such as "Mexican Army Crosses Into Texas"), so I figured it was time to investigate further.
The story Drudge referred to is almost certainly this television review of the pre-game show by the Boston Globe's Steve Morse:
And we got remotes of rapper Kanye West and pop rockers Maroon 5 from a generic-looking, red-white-and-blue stage in Los Angeles.
Maroon 5 came off vapidly (doing just one song, ''Harder to Breathe"), while West did one tune, ''Heard 'Em Say." Yet it was disconcerting to hear his name booed loudly by Patriots fans who evidently didn't appreciate his nationally televised comment the other night on a Hurricane Katrina benefit that President Bush ''doesn't care about black people." The boos were thunderous and lasted for much of his number.
Unfortunately for Morse, it looks like there's some disagreement in the Globe newsroom. Here's Eric Wilbur:
Let it be noted that Kanye West and Maroon 5 were roundly booed by the 80-something percent capacity Gillette crowd during their remote performance in the NFL Kickoff extravaga-something pregame show. That is all.
If anybody has a straight answer on this I'd like to hear it. But so far, the only conclusion I'm drawing is that these pre-game extravaganzas can't suck enough.

Kayne West was a special guest at the Apple Ipod Nano announcement in SF on Wednesday. One of the first things he did was thank Steve Jobs for still allowing him to be there.
