Stuart Scott Takes Road From Bristol Crown

Congratulations to Stuart Scott for winning the inaugural "Road From Bristol" title, as he polished off Tony Reali in the national semifinal and defeated Skip Bayless for the title.

Indeed, he has earned the sobriquet of ESPN's most loathsome sports personality. Here's a sampling of comments from the critics:

"Scott is pretty much ESPN's mascot and represents everything that is wrong with the network's direction. The ultimate triumph of style over substance. He deserves his place in the Final." -- Adam

"Every new anchor on Sportscenter wants to be him, and that's damning enough to get him to the next round." -- Mike O.

"Stuart Scott is the devil. It offends me as someone with a journalism degree that he is considered part of the media." -- David

"The only way he'd look good is if ESPN went to a three man desk and his partners were SAS [Stephen A. Smith] and Bayless. Of course, if that ever happened I'd have to blow up the ESPN studio secure in the knowledge that no jury in the world would ever convict me after watching five minutes of these guys." -- Andy

But wait, there's more. Not wanting the fun to end so soon, they've just kicked off the "Tim McCarver Invitational" to determine who the worst non-ESPN announcer might be. Bravo, bravo!

Um, what specifically is it about Scott's performance that inspires such bile? Is he too "street" for these people, or what?

I'm could live without him, but I like him in moderate doses, and he's way better than the other clods (excluding the NFL crew, mostly) on ESPN right now. I'll take him over Trey Wingo and that Van Pelt dork any day.

And if any of those Scott haters are Kenny Mayne fans, then their credibility on this is totally nonexistent.
