I've seen sporting events cancelled because of rain, snow, high winds and blackouts. But I've never seen a sporting event interrupted by...

How about a tennis dual meet called on account of pine needles? I have seen that one (in your backyard, actually, Fairfax County)--the trees were shedding them onto the courts faster than they could be swept up. They wound up moving the meet indoors.
