For The 2006-07 Caps Lockeroom Bulletin Board
When the Caps beat the Atlanta Thrashers on Monday night, some team officials got a surprise phone call from Tampa:
After beating Atlanta on Monday, both Hanlon and McPhee received phone calls from their Tampa Bay counterparts, John Tortorella and Jay Feaster, respectively, thanking them for defeating the Thrashers. The Capitals' victory clinched a playoff berth for the Lightning.
Funny. But then again, this is the NHL, where, unlike the NBA, teams tend to play hard as long as the outcome matters to somebody, somewhere.

I'd think it would make better fodder for the Atlanta bulletin board.
