Do You Watch The FSN Final Score?
If you've ever complained about what ESPN's SportsCenter has become, this show might be an answer to your prayers:
On Monday, July 3, FSN debuts its new nightly sports highlight show THE FSN FINAL SCORE. The show is 30 minutes of fast-paced highlights from the best the sports world has to offer each day. FINAL SCORE cuts right to the best plays, top performances and "did you see that?" moments without over-caffeinated anchor interference.
FINAL SCORE airs nightly Monday to Friday at 11:30 p.m. local, with Saturday episodes airing at 10:30 p.m. local and Sunday episodes airing at 9:30 p.m. local.
This show has been on FSN affiliates for almost two months, and I hadn't heard of it until this past weekend. A quick Technorati search shows that the program has zero blog buzz. With the immense reservoir of animus against ESPN, you'd think Fox would have tried to gin up some more word of mouth marketing.

Is that the one with Van Earl Wright? If so, I've seen it while flipping channels, but I can only tolerate Van Earl in 30-second doses.

Well, I'm a skeptic. How many times has Fox Sports tried a national show before? How many times has it worked?
IMO, the people who are unhappy with ESPN aren't looking for a new "fast-paced" highlight show. They want some sports news without the "I'm-trying-too-hard" jokes (not that humor is bad, just forced up-to-the-second-pop-culture-references don't fit).
It's why I'd love to see OLN/VS get another major sports contract. Baseball playoffs or some of the like makes the channel a must-have, it makes it something people will turn into and they'd then have the opportunity to follow games with a real news show. I want to see a fresh idea. FSN seems to rehash the same thing over and over. I haven't caught this one yet, hope it's different.
