Looks Like Ovechkin's NHL Ad Works
When I arrived home three weeks ago for Christmas break, I brought home one of the draw-string Caps bags from the Caps-Penguins game on Dec. 11th. When I showed my 16-year-old sister, she seemed uninterested. But all of a sudden her eyes lit up and in an excited voice she goes "Oh, I saw a commercial on tv with a guy from the Capitals!" Having not seen or heard about the commercial myself at the time, I asked her what she was talking about.
"Some guy from the team is trying to get something out of the vending machine, but it's stuck. So he's hitting and kicking the machine, and then the coach or someone comes over to help and has his arm in the machine trying to get it out."
I asked her if she knew who the 2 guys were, but she had no idea. All she knew was that they were from the Capitals, and "it was soooo funny."
At my house the NHL commercial certainly made an impact, and hopefully it's making an impact on millions of others across the country. Maybe it's just the sort of thing the NHL needs to get more butts in the seats, whether they're in the rinks or in front of tvs.
