More Thoughts on ESPN and Who's Now

After catching the Sklar Brothers and their Who's Then parody of ESPN's Who's Now feature, one longtime Off Wing reader felt compelled to write in with the following:

I think it speaks volumes of ABC/ESPN and Disney that they could do a segment for weeks, make a big deal about it, and then turn around and poke fun at it as if they weren't the ones doing the original segment to begin with.

[...]

I think that, if anything, ESPN spends too much time trying to cover all of it's own bases, from devoting half of SportsCenter after Monday Night Football to the game they just showed, or the BSPN thing. It's a common flaw in all Disney product, and reminds me of push sales, where they offer you a scone with your coffee.

Here's another idea: The folks at ESPN have been playing with house money for so long that they've forgotten what put them on top in the first place. To paraphrase a famous political columnist, they've been put into the game as a pinch runner at third base and are still acting like they hit a triple.
