Jesse Boulerice And Ryan Kesler

In case you missed it, here's the video from the Comcast feed of the October 10 Flyers-Canucks game where Jesse Boulerice took down Ryan Kesler:

From the Toronto Star:

"(League officials) have to do something severe enough to scare guys from doing that," said Kesler.

The 23-year-old practised yesterday and expects to play tonight when the Canucks face Edmonton.

He did not receive an X-ray and had no plans to get one.

"I didn't see him coming and he just took my head off," said Kesler. "I think he has a reputation of doing that, so we'll see what happens."

Methinks Mr. Boulerice will be gone for a while, especially given his history. More here. Thanks to Orland Kurtenblog for the pointer.

UPDATE: The decision is in: 25 games.

This is one situation where deterrence is critically important - so regardless of the fortunate outcome, a clear message needs to be sent. Twenty games minimum.
