More On The Stringer Attack

Newsday has a followup story concerning an attack on a stringer for it's sports section. As we linked yesterday, part-time reporter David Abramowicz was attacked by two teenagers in a Massapequa, New York park. Abramowicz had come to the park at the behest of an anonymous tipster who said he had information about students on the Massapequa High School Soccer team using steroids.

As Abramowicz told Newsday:

Abramowicz said that when he arrived at the park around 8 p.m., the tipster called his cell phone from an unidentifiable number and said they should meet near the park's marina, where there were fewer people. There, a teenager appeared from behind a small building, Abramowicz said. A larger male teen walked over as well, he said.

They told him to move away from the lights, and Abramowicz said he became worried. "You're actually making me a little nervous," he recalled saying to the teens. "I'm sorry, maybe I've seen one too many 'Sopranos' episodes."

The second teen punched Abramowicz.

Police are investigating. The two suspects are described as white, age 16-17, one 5'9", the other 5'10".
