The Lowdown From Teemu
A couple of weeks back, I made the point that the Major League Baseball Players Association was bitterly divided over the issue of steroids. Now, it's the National Hockey League Players Association that may be showing signs of division over another issue altogether: When it comes to gratuitous violence in the National Hockey League, Teemu Selanne has seen enough. He was among a number of Colorado Avalanche players who wanted to forfeit the game and refuse to play after Todd Bertuzzi of the Vancouver Canucks attacked Steve Moore, and he watched in shock on Saturday night when the Maple Leafs' Wade Belak's unloaded a two-handed swing with his stick to the head of Ossi Vaananen. I'm not sure I agree with Teemu, but I know one thing: the NHL was a lot more fun when he was scoring 70+ goals per season. POSTSCRIPT: Here's some good news -- Steve Moore is going to leave the hospital today (Tuesday). Best wishes for a speedy recovery.
