D.C. Baseball Update

The news is looking good on the legal front when it comes to the Expos proposed move to Washington, D.C. With that hurdle out of the way, the league is expected to approve the transfer of the team from Montreal to Washington on Thursday.

Back here in D.C., Linda Cropp's private financing proposal is dying a quick death (then again, maybe not), but we still don't have a date for a final vote because nobody can get the vacation schedule straight for the D.C. City Council.

By the way, over the weekend, the Post upped the total cost estimate on the ballpark and related expenditures to $614 million. And that's before the city has even broken ground on the site, or started renovations to RFK Stadium.

As always, check out Distinguished Senators, William World News, Ball Wonk, Capitol Punishment, Washington Baseball Blog, and a new entry, Scorekeeping.
