D.C. Baseball Update
The big news this morning has to be the delay in the vote by MLB owners to approve the Expos move to Washington. This time, the hitch isn't the fact that the D.C. City Council still hasn't voted on the stadium financing bill, but rather MLB's continuing negotiations with Orioles owner Peter Angelos over the issue of compensation. In front office news, Frank Robinson will be returning as manager next year. Returning to the Blogosphere, Ryan at Distinguished Senators reminds us that there is no 'h' in Cristian Guzman! Captain Off Wing regrets the error. Meanwhile, Bat Girl, the creator of Legovision, warns us of what we have in store with the aforementioned Senor Guzman. Elsewhere, the soon-to-be-named Washington Baseball franchise (and Nationals it is) has started taking season ticket deposits, and one day earlier than scheduled. Congrats to Tony Tavares and the rest of the front office team of creating a media story out of a very simple event -- and collecting 10,000 season ticket deposits in the process. John Viega thinks some of those ticket prices are too high, but he's still looking for somebody to go to games with. And be sure to check out John's piece on Washington Baseball at All Baseball. And please give a warm Off Wing welcome to the Nats Blog, the newest addition to Washington Baseball blogging.
