Inside Hockey Schills For "Eklund"
Inside Hockey is running what they're billing as an exclusive interview with Eklund of Hockey Rumors-- a claim that I find a bit surprising given this post I wrote on Thursday and the handwritten notes I took during my own 30-minute telephone conversation with "Eklund" to back it up. Don't expect any insight from the interview, or any tough questions either. In fact, I'm wondering why they simply didn't offer "Eklund" some display advertising instead. UPDATE: I just got a note from one of the sources that Eklund has been using to create his reports on the lockout. At his request, I'll keep his identity secret, but the gist of the story goes something like this: Anonymous player agent contacts source with news about union discontent with Bob Goodenow's leadership at the NHLPA; Anonymous source speaks to "Eklund," who then prints the story. What you have here is an anonymous player agent contacting an anonymous source who then passed the story on to an anonymous blogger who decides to print it. Granted, I can't disprove any of this -- but I can't prove any of it either, which is why I'm more than happy to take a pass on info like this when it comes my way.
